Krishi Energy is supported by a multinational team which has financed, developed and operated significant portfolios of clean energy assets around the world and have positioned themselves amongst visionary leaders in the space.

Krishi Energy was formed for the purpose of
  • Acquiring licenses to build and operate distributed power stations based on biomass,
  • Building and operating distributed power stations, fueled by biomass,
  • Acquire biomass powered plants which are currently in operation and,
  • Expand the scope of operations to include the licensing, building and operation of hydroelectric power stations, municipal urban waste based power stations, wind based power stations, solar power, fuel cells and other forms of renewable energy.

CURRENT STATUS OF BIOMASS POWER PROJECTS

The promoters have acquired the following licenses to build and operate biomass fueled distributed power stations in several states in India. The following are profiles of the licenses:

Biomass Highlights

  • India is one of the fastest growing economies in the world
  • India is experiencing a large demand-supply gap in electricity
  • Favorable government policies and incentives as the government of India has mandated, through the Ministry of Non-Conventional Energy Sources, that ten percent of the country's power needs should be generated through renewable and non-conventional sources by 2012
  • Of an estimated potential of 100,000 megawatts from renewable energy in India, only 3,000 megawatts has been put online to date
  • Approximately 10 of 26 states in India have promulgated biomass energy policies and have issued licenses
  • India is generously endowed with renewable resources such as biomass-materials, urban and industrial wastes and small hydro locations
  • Strong and experienced management team
  • Industry is highly fragmented with no dominant incumbents
  • Abundant acquisition opportunities
